Quick and Easy Homemade Bread
Instructions
1. Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease an 8×4-inch loaf pan or an 8-inch round/square baking dish with butter or nonstick spray. You can also line it with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
2. Combine the Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Thoroughly mixing the dry ingredients ensures the baking powder is evenly distributed, giving your bread a uniform rise.
3. Add the Wet Ingredients
Pour in the milk and melted butter (or olive oil). Stir gently with a wooden spoon or spatula just until combined. The batter will be thick and slightly sticky—similar to muffin batter.
Avoid overmixing to keep the bread light and tender.
Optional add-ins: shredded cheese, fresh or dried herbs, garlic, or even cooked bacon bits.
4. Transfer to the Baking Dish
Spread the batter evenly into your prepared pan. If you like, brush a bit more melted butter on top to help it brown beautifully.
5. Bake
Bake for 18–22 minutes, or until the top turns lightly golden and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Since oven temperatures vary, start checking at the 18-minute mark.
6. Cool & Serve
Let the bread cool in the pan for about 5 minutes. Then transfer it to a wire rack to cool slightly before slicing. Serve warm with butter, honey, or alongside your favorite dishes.
